Instagram QR Code Generator – Send people from your packaging, counter or flyer straight to your Instagram pro

Quick answer: paste your Instagram link – https://www.instagram.com/yourname for your profile, or the link from a post or reel’s Share › Copy link. Style the code in your brand colours, scan it to check it opens Instagram, and download it for print. No Instagram login is needed.

Profile, post or reel – which link?

  • Profile (instagram.com/yourname) – best for growing followers on shop counters, packaging and business cards.
  • A single post or reel – best for a specific offer, a recipe, a tutorial or a launch video. Copy it from the post’s ⋯ or share icon › Copy link.
  • A story highlight – handy for menus or price lists you keep updated as a highlight.

Instagram’s own QR code vs. this one

Instagram shows a QR code under Share profile, but you get a fixed colour scheme and a phone screenshot. Here you get a clean vector file (SVG or PDF) for professional printing, any colour, a logo in the middle and codes for individual posts too. Both open the same profile.

Getting people to actually scan

Give a reason next to the code: “Follow for daily specials”, “See how it’s made”, “Tag us for 10% off”. Codes on product packaging work best near the opening, where people look when they unbox. On a shop window, print at least 5 cm so people can scan from the pavement.

Active on more than one platform? Make a matching TikTok QR code, or send everyone to one landing page with the social media QR code generator. Want the code in a Story or post? Resize Image helps you fit it to Instagram’s sizes.

How to make a Instagram QR Code

  1. Type your username. Just the name after instagram.com/. Or paste a post or reel link from ⋯ › Copy link.
  2. Pick a look. Start from the Instagram-style gradient or your brand colours in “Style it”.
  3. Add your logo. Upload your logo or profile picture for the centre; error correction is raised automatically.
  4. Test and download. Scan the preview – Instagram should open on your page – then download PNG, SVG or PDF.

The gradient, done so it still scans

The Instagram-style preset runs the code from deep purple to magenta on white – the bright orange and yellow of the logo are kept out of the code on purpose, because phones struggle to read light colours on white. Gradients are fine as long as every part of the code stays clearly darker than the background. The automatic test scan in the preview tells you immediately if a colour choice has gone too light.

Ideas that grow followers offline

  • Unboxing card in every order: “Show us your setup – tag us for a feature”.
  • Mirror sticker in salons and gyms: “Before/after photos on our Instagram”.
  • Menu corner linking to a reel of the dish being made.
  • Event backdrop linking to the event’s highlight, updated live.

Size and print

Instagram profile links are short, so a 2 cm code on a sticker or label scans comfortably. For window decals, go to 8–10 cm and download SVG so the print shop can scale it without blur.

Checklist before printing

  • The username is exact and your account is public (or you’re happy to approve follow requests).
  • Bio and latest posts are up to date – new visitors decide in seconds.
  • The caption gives a reason to follow, not just the word “Instagram”.
  • Test scan in the preview shows ✓ after you choose colours and a logo.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to log in to Instagram?

No. The tool only needs the public link to your profile, post or reel.

Will the code open the Instagram app?

Yes, if the app is installed. Otherwise it opens instagram.com in the browser.

Can I make a QR code for a private account?

Yes, but people who scan it will need to send a follow request before they can see your posts.

My code opens the wrong profile – why?

Usually the username in the link has a typo or you renamed the account. Copy the link again from the app.

Can I use Instagram colours?

Yes. Use a gradient from orange to purple, or your own brand colours. Avoid very light colours for the code itself.

Does it work for Threads too?

Use the Social Media QR code generator and choose Threads – it builds the threads.net/@name link for you.

Can I use my profile picture as the logo?

Yes. Upload it under “Style it”; it is placed in the centre and the code is made sturdier so it still scans.

Is the Instagram gradient safe to print?

Yes. The preset uses only darker purple and magenta tones on white. Our test scan checks every design; if it warns, darken the lighter colour.

Can I link an Instagram post instead of my profile?

Yes. Copy the post or reel link from ⋯ › Copy link and paste it in the second box; it replaces the username.
